Metrics Modeled

Observed role

Role°Modeled

An estimate from a model we built. Useful, but not a fact — every modeled stat's page says where it's weak.

Definition

A classifier reads the shape of a player's on-ball actions and returns the role that pattern most resembles. It is phrased as 'played like', never 'is': the listed position is a fact about the team sheet, the observed role is a fact about the model.

How much is enough

Roughly 900 minutes for a stable read.

Where it is weak

About 77% agreement with listed position across the record. Disagreement is often informative rather than wrong — but sometimes it is just wrong.

What it refuses to measure

This does not tell you where a player stood. It tells you whose action profile hers resembled.

What would prove this wrong

Accuracy against listed position is ~77% on the full record. If a new release drops below 70%, the classifier is stale and role reads must be withdrawn.
